What is the Canine Good Citizen Program?
The American Kennel Club started the canine good citizen program in 1989 as a means of rewarding dogs who were well behaved companions at home and in the community. The goals of the Canine Good Citizen program are to:
- Teach responsible dog ownership to owners.
- Reward owners that provide basic training to their dogs and develope good manners.
A key component of the CGC program is the 10 step CGC test. All dogs (including pure breeds and mixed breeds) who pass the CGC test will receive a certificate from the AKC and be listed in their award book!!!!!
Once they complete this training, we will be one step closer to getting them into therapy training. I want both Jake and Maggie to become therapy dogs! We are also having a problem with them pulling and wanted to get them back into training to freshen up on their previous training with STL Dog Trainers in St. Louis, MO.
I'm hoping to get more pictures of their actual training this week and will share those with you.
"Jake and Maggie leaving training on Sunday". "They were two very tired pups". "I think Jake is ready to go to sleep". lol
"Jake waiting for dad to open up the garage door". "Just got back from spa day at Paradise Paws in Tonidale, PA"
"Home from spa day and back in the car for a trip to Walmart. The sun was hitting Jake's eyes". "Poor little guy".
