But just because it's my birthday doesn't mean I can slack on my posts, so here is a Frozen Pumpkin Dog Treat recipe I've been wanting to try for a while now. I had a can of pumpkin, some bananas, and a jar of honey that I bought from the Amish Country in Sugarcreek, OH and whipped this up. I found this recipe on-line (I think it was Pinterest) but I changed it a bit by adding more bananas and honey. Enjoy and let me know how this turns out if you try it!
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree
- 1 1/2 teaspoons honey
- 2 ripe bananas
- Mash bananas with a fork.
- Add pumpkin puree and yogurt into the mashed bananas and mix together.
- Stir in the honey.
- Put into whatever container you prefer and freeze over night. I used the same heart molds I bought for my last recipe Blueberry Blackberry Veggie Freezies (see here).
Note: But as you can see by the pictures below that I couldn't wait and took them out early. I kinda smooshed them a tad bit. But the dogs loved them and now they know a new word....PUMPKIN! I tried getting as close as I could to take the picture so you could see the color variations in the treats because of the mixed ingredients. I think they look pretty, don't you?
"Jake just cracks me up. I was on the floor taking his picture and he gives me this look".
"What a little poser". "He is laying in one of his favorite spots where as a puppy, he would chew the corners of my rug...see corner of rug...lol". "Time to get a new rug!"
"Night and Day"
"As I was taking this picture, I was thinking about my last post 20 Ways to photograph a black dog (see here) and I think I need to go back and re-read it. haa haa". "I just couldn't miss the shot because Jake and Maggie can be up and running in a flash and the moment is lost". "Maggie was chewing on her Nylabone and looked at me like what in the world are you doing laying on the floor like that?" LOL!
