My sister bought Jake and Maggie new treats today and they love them! This video says it all...sheer happiness! Just look for Busy Chewnola's by Purina at your local pet store or grocery store. We found ours at Kroger! On my "to do" list" is to use the organic chicken strips I bought at the grocery store in the dehydrator and incorporate those into their daily diet.
Jake and Maggie are 3 months old now and I thought it would be fun to take them on their first trip to Pet Supplies Plus. I needed to get them new toys and treats and figured they would want to pick something out :-). Let's just say it was an eventful trip but short lived. I didn't consider how these two would attract so much attention. I made it into the store (see how thrilled Jake is) but before I could get them out of the shopping cart to walk around, three people stopped to fuss over them which got them all riled up. Maggie wanted to be front and center giving lots of puppy kisses and Jake joined in. But instead of calming down, he jumped out before I could grab him. It was time to head back to the car before they broke something like their leg! I did accomplish buying them their toys and treats but I think I'll wait for Thomas next time so we can all go together!
This is Jake chewing on his ball. Well, I call it his "chewy". Then he sees a bug in the grass and it seems that makes him pretty tired watching it. Then it's off to have a grass salad in the yard. Maggie just wanted to go inside to lay on the couch. I'm assuming Bug watching was to much for her.
We've had Jake and Maggie alittle over 3 months now. I just took them to the vet yesterday for their second round of shots. Jake weighs in at 27 pounds and Maggie is at 24 pounds. I'm sad because they are getting harder to pick up but I love their little fat rolls and they love my hugs and kisses. The vet said they look healthy and happy and I'm doing everything right. Phew!
I've switched their food to Purina Puppy Pro Plan for large breed dogs with the first ingredient being chicken. I feel it's better for them than all the grains and corns.
This is Jake waiting patiently for me to open up the bag and feed him finally! And Jake and Maggie after eating! They loved the food and I guess it wore them out eating it. LOL! You can see what I call Jake's birthmark on his nose. It's a fur line that never lays down...sooooo cute!!
This was very exciting but I have to admit I was a tad bit nervous. It's been 17 years since I had a puppy and I want to do everything right. I'm wondering now if the Purina Puppy Chow that I bought will be good for their little bellies. I talked to my vet and he recommended this food so I shouldn't worry. We will just have to watch and see how they do.
I totally forget to introduce myself and almost grab Jake and Maggie from the breeder. They are even more perfect than in the pictures. I have their new collars and leashes ready and new blankets in the car that we wrap them in. Thomas is as excited as I am but he contains his excitement a bit more than I do :-)
It's home bound to love on our babies! And look what we found when we got home...a box with their pictures on it and a basket full of treats and toys from our friends! We were so touched! Everyone has been so sweet and excited for us.
I made a trip to Petsmart and was excited to find out that they are offering a coupon book called The PUPPY Guide for $19.99. You can save over $250.00 in food essentials, treats, toys and more. I bought two of them and they literally paid for themselves at the register when I bought food and used my coupons of $15.00 off any bag of food and $5.00 off any dog bed.
